DENVER – A Colorado woman says a Christmas miracle brought her and her newborn son back from the brink of death after her heart stopped beating during childbirth and the baby was delivered showing no signs of life.

“I got a second chance in life,” Tracy Hermanstorfer said.

Hermanstorfer, 33, was being prepped for childbirth at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs Thursday morning. Her 37-year-old husband was by her side when she began to feel sleepy and lay back in her bed.

“She literally stopped breathing and her heart stopped,” her husband, Mike, told The Associated Press. Pandemonium erupted as doctors and nurses tried to revive her with chest compressions and a breathing tube, but nothing worked.

“I was holding her hand when we realized she was gone,” Mike Hermanstorfer said. “My entire life just rolled out.”

Doctors told him, “We’re going to take your son out now. We have been unable to revive her and we’re going to take your son out,” he recalled.

After the Cesarean section, some of the team rushed his wife to the operating room while the others attended to Coltyn. They handed him to Mike Hermanstorfer, who said the baby was “absolutely lifeless.”

“My legs went out from underneath me,” Hermanstorfer said. “I had everything in the world taken from me, and in an hour and a half I had everything given to me.”

The doctors went to work on Coltyn as Hermanstorfer held him, and soon he began to breath.

“His life began in my hands,” Hermanstorfer said. “That’s a feeling like none other. Life actually began in the palm of my hands.”

Stephanie Martin, a maternal fetal medicine specialist at the hospital, said Tracy Hermanstorfer’s pulse returned even before she was wheeled out of the room and into surgery. She estimates Hermanstorfer had no heartbeat for about four minutes.

“She had no signs of life. No heartbeat, no blood pressure, she wasn’t breathing,” said Martin, who had rushed to Hermanstorfer’s room to help. “The baby was, it was basically limp, with a very slow heart rate.”

After their stunning recovery, both mother and the baby, named Coltyn, appear healthy with no signs of problems, Martin said.

She said she cannot explain the mother’s cardiac arrest or the recovery.

“We did a thorough evaluation and can’t find anything that explains why this happened,” she said.

Mike Hermanstorfer credits “the hand of God.”

“We are both believers … but this right here, even a nonbeliever — you explain to me how this happened. There is no other explanation,” he said.

Asked about divine intervention, Martin said, “Wherever I can get the help, I’ll take it.”

He’s Not A Baby Anymore…

I’ve got  a news flash for those that still don’t understand that Jesus is NOT a “trinket, token or toy.”

Millions of people wear a cross or crucifix around their neck, but have rejected the real Christ of the Bible. That won’t work.

Many others have the “Jesus token” in their back pocket, like a bus token, when they need a ride out of the area into something better. That won’t work.

And others have Jesus in their mind as some kind of “super-hero” toy, that they fantasize about, like talking about one of the other “great men of religions.” That won’t work either!

Some facts to realize, before the reality of never knowing Him reaches your door…

  • He is the Son of the Living God (God of all creation… NO it didn’t just “big bang” into existence)
  • He did miracles that NO man has ever done or claimed to do (recorded historically too)
  • The church that He said He would build… He has built and continues to build it
  • Jesus alone has fulfilled every prophecy of the Old and New Testament about the Messiah
  • He wants to have a very “personal relationship” with you
  • You do need His forgiveness of your sins (No, you aren’t perfect, even though you think you are…)
  • He warned us of the events that will shortly happen to everyone on the earth
  • He is coming back to take His “church” (people who have truly committed their hearts and lives to Him)
  • And the ONLY thing standing in the way from you knowing Him, is your pride
  • He’s also the ONLY way to eternal life (Not Allah, Shmalla or Buddalla…) He said it, it is true

As you read this, you have one less day than you had before yesterday, tomorrow may or may not come for you.

Why “gamble” with your soul? If you’re lost… it will be forever. You don’t die. Only the body you live now will die and turn back to dust.

Jesus is not a “good luck” charm. He’s a holy God and you will be standing before Him one day. That’s a sobering fact.

Don’t believe me? It won’t change the fact that you will…

The only question remains… will you stand there forgiven, because you said, “Jesus, I’m sorry for my rejection of you and now ask you to forgive me and come live in my heart?”

Or will you hold your foolish pride and believe the lie Satan keeps telling you, that you don’t need a Savior. You’re a good person. You never killed anyone or committed any bad crime?

If you say that, then you simply don’t get it… You and I were “born into sin.” It was the very nature of us as human beings from the beginning.

We need someone to make us “right” with God again, so we don’t continue to stand before Him “condemned.” You may be thinking, “Oh no, I don’t feel condemned before God, he and I are real tight….”

Jesus said, “No man can come to God, except through me.” If you don’t Jesus, you don’t know God.

You’ve only got religion… That’s all the Muslims have. That’s all the cults have. That’s all the “LOST” of the world have!

He’s not a baby anymore and He’s coming back to the earth very soon. You don’t want to be here after the church has been taken away. I won’t be… how about you?

It’s all about Him and what He provided for us. His life.
